Twelve years ago my first Belgian Tervuren entered my life. Maya was a very special girl, excelling in competitive obedience and agility by age two. Sadly I lost her to Valley Fever shortly after her 2nd birthday.
Then Dusty, Mon Ami Dust in the Wind, came into my life and we fell hard for each other. Although, as a reactive dog from birth, Dusty was sometimes difficult to live with in the wide, wide world, through persistence and understanding we became successful at competitive obedience, rally obedience, and agility. My biggest thrill and his as well, was working with sheep. It’s too bad his temperament did not allow for much success in the sport of hobby herding.
With Pat, San Royale’s Nighttime Is My Time, I have discovered the joy of a calm, honest, and hard-working Tervuren; reserved, yet friendly and dynamite in the herding arena. Pat also serves as my Service dog in the world and she handles herself with the quiet nonchalance of all good service dogs.
My choice to breed Pat to Selmer comes from a desire to strengthen the herding instinct from both lines while preserving their calm, gentle temperaments. Uppermost is to have puppies that demonstrate sound structure that serves them in any chosen activity for their lifetime. Adele and I are excited about this breeding and have high hopes for these puppies. |
